In the leaves and flower buds of Lonicera japonica, the content of luteolin and its glycosides is close to 1%, which is the main medicinal ingredient. luteolin supplement can be extracted from honeysuckle.
The monohydrate of luteolin is yellow needle crystal (ethanol), insoluble in cold and hot water, easily soluble in alkaline water, methanol and ethanol. The characteristic wavelengths (absorption coefficient) of ultraviolet absorption are: 257nm (17000) and 354nm (17800). The CAS number of luteolin is 491-70-3.
CTFA regards luteolin as a cosmetic raw material, which is included in the "International Cosmetic Raw Material Standard Chinese Name Catalogue" published by the China Fragrance Association in 2010, and the "Announcement on the List of Used Cosmetic Raw Material Names" issued by the State Food and Drug Administration in 2014 It has not been listed yet, and there is no report that it is unsafe for external use.
